From Hospital to Home Care: A Step by Step Guide to Providing Care to Patients Post Hospitalization

Charleston, SC (PRWEB) February 04, 2012

Home Care Assistance of Charleston, the leading provider of in-home care for seniors, is proud to announce the Hospital to Home Care program, a comprehensive set of educational resources for families managing the difficult transition home after hospitalization. The program helps families prepare for discharge, manage the unique needs of post-hospitalization patients and coordinate recovery at home.

“The hospitalization and discharge experience is a source of tremendous anxiety for patients and their families,” said Lily Sarafan, President of Home Care Assistance. “Individuals are placed in a stressful situation, often without the resources they need to make the best long-term decisions for their loved ones. As the leading experts in post-hospitalization care, we wanted to provide families everywhere with the information and guidance they need to manage every step of the discharge process and recovery at home.”

The program is supported by the book, From Hospital to Home Care, written by Home Care Assistance co-founders Dr. Kathy Johnson, Dr. James Johnson and Lily Sarafan. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges and resources associated with each step in the transition from hospital to the home, explains the discharge process from an inpatient hospital stay, outlines common issues associated with specific medical conditions, discusses the unique needs of recently hospitalized patients and emphasizes the importance of home care in patient outcomes and quality of life. Home Care Assistance is also excited to unveil HospitaltoHomeCare.com, a free online resource for families seeking information about the discharge process and recovery at home.

“The entire Hospital to Home Care program is anchored in the belief that patients can recover and rehabilitate at home following a hospitalization,” said Ryan Coker, District Manager of Home Care Assistance. “Our clients benefit tremendously from a familiar home environment and their families enjoy peace of mind knowing that trained professionals are on hand to support their loved ones.”

Hospital to Home Care is part of a long-term initiative at Home Care Assistance to encourage recovery and rehabilitation at home while reducing avoidable hospital readmissions. Alongside the psychological and emotional benefits of recovery at home, patients also benefit from dedicated one-on-one support from a caregiver. In addition, patients avoid the infection risk associated with care facilities and enjoy greater freedom outside of an institutional setting.

“Our mission at Home Care Assistance is to change the way the world ages,” said Sarafan. “We have been able to help countless clients with their post-hospitalization recovery at home and now we’ve been able to transfer that expertise into informative resources for the public. By encouraging patients to recover at home and reducing avoidable hospital readmissions, we hope to re-shape how families and health professionals think about post-hospitalization care.

From Hospital to Home Care: A Step by Step Guide to Providing Care to Patients Post Hospitalization is available for pre-order on Amazon.com for $ 17.95. A 16-page PDF guide to the discharge and recovery process is available for free at http://www.HospitaltoHomeCare.com.

TJ & Pals, the popular interactive preschool website, announced a new We Love Mom Sweepstakes. The lucky winner will receive the grand prize of an iPad 2 and a TJ & Pals iPad app gift card.

It’s easy to enter and win at We Love Mom Sweepstakes. The sweepstakes is open to all US residents who are 18 years of age or older. The deadline for entry is February 28.

Umachaka Media Inc., the company that developed TJ & Pals, has also designed creative educational apps based on the characters in the TJ & Pals website. Ipad apps such as TJ’s Remember, a fun memory game that can be played on three levels of difficulty with six color-ful themes to chose from, TJ’s Seek&Find, an app that develops children’s pre-reading skills, and TJ’s Art Studio, the perfect iPad app for any budding young Picasso.

Children 3-5 years old can play games, sing songs, watch videos, and listen to stories on TJ & Pals interactive educational website. The games and activities revolve around the lives of an inquisitive pencil named TJ and his group of buddies, as they take kids on a journey of fun and learning. Everything on the website uses the important educational principle of learn as you play.

According to the creator of TJ & Pals, Ashley Lazarus, “the more fun and interactive learning is, the more effective it is. Every game, activity, How To, and story, we create at TJ & Pals is based on this principle.” Ashley Lazarus and his team have managed to create a preschool website site that kids love–putting TJ & Pals at the forefront of educational and fun activities for preschoolers.

The CasaBlanca Golf Club will be highlighted during a busy golf schedule in Mesquite, Nev. in November and December.

Mesquite, NV (PRWEB) October 13, 2011

November and December might be considered premier golf months in Mesquite with a heavy schedule awaiting golfers from several states. The southern Nevada city about 80 miles north of Las Vegas hits high gear about this time of year beginning with the annual Mesquite Fall Pro Am.

Sporting some of the finest golf courses in the country, Mesquite will showcase four of its prize layouts during a pair of gatherings.

The Mesquite Fall Pro Am kicks off the intense schedule Nov. 13-15 at Falcon Ridge and CasaBlanca courses featuring a $ 42,000 purse.

The third annual Southwest Invitational set Nov. 15-18 at the CasaBlanca and Palms courses features a $ 10,000 purse.

Considered a favorite among golfers from several states, the Southwest Invitational tournament will begin with a Skins game Nov. 15 at the CasaBlanca Golf Club. The cash game with a $ 100 buy-in per player promises to be a huge kickoff to the week’s format.

The second day features a two-man, one best ball format at the CasaBlanca. The final day is a two-person scramble at the Palms.

About 60 two-man teams are expected to compete in the prestigious event.

“This is time for some very serious golf,” said Darrell Edwards, who spends the year booking golf gatherings for Mesquite Gaming at his offices inside the CasaBlanca Resort. “The weather is generally very good this time of year in Mesquite and those participants who attend our tournaments here return home telling everyone what a great time they had.”

Edwards said golfers from as far away as Georgia are expected to play in the Southwest Invitational.

Brian Wursten, the director of golf at Falcon Ridge, said the tournaments create a blockbuster week in Mesquite.

“This is a great chance for the pros to get into some good weather and show some appreciation toward their club members,” Wursten said. “They bring their club members out to Mesquite for a good time and good golf. It’s just plain good PR all the way around along with a nice vacation and some good weather.”

Falcon Ridge is a 6,550-yard; par 71 desert layout with beautiful landscapes; while the CasaBlanca Golf Club nestled in wildlife features a 7,011-yard, par 72 layouts. The Palms is said to feature two courses in one with a perfect blend of traditional and desert golf.

The front nine of the Palms is an old-fashioned, all-grass layout; while the back nine includes challenges through and around deep canyons for a total of 6,813 yards.

The CasaBlanca Golf Club features an 18-hole landscape designed by Cal Olsen, and is nestled into a wildlife sanctuary. Thirteen of 18 holes are surrounded by water.

The heavy schedule of golf events in Mesquite continues with the Nevada Open and Nevada Senior Open Golf Championships Dec. 12-16 at the Palms and CasaBlanca courses.

Further information regarding the tournaments can be found at http://www.casablancaresort.com/CasaBlanca-Golf-Club-Tournaments.php.

(PRWEB) February 03, 2012

With the UK braced for sub-zero temperatures and bouts of ice, snow and rain this week, cash-savvy customers have been buying items to keep them warm, without having to crank up the heating and spend a fortune on gas bills, says department store Debenhams.

Shoppers have been preparing for the end of the so-far mild British winter by snapping up thermal underwear (+17%), cosy slippers (+49%) and thick woolly pyjamas (+16%).

The most surprising item in shoppers’ baskets this weekend however, was skimpy swimsuits and bikinis (+18%). Sales of these summer items have soared in recent weeks, despite temperatures dropping below freezing in many parts of the country.

Says Debenhams spokesperson Ed Watson: “With the cost of heating and lighting the average home now exceeding £1,200 a year, our customers are being clever in their tactics to keep warm before they turn up the heat – and their monthly bills.

“It’s bizarre that this freezing cold weather has had such a positive effect on swim sales – the last thing you would think people would be buying was swimwear!”

When questioned, nearly half of customers (44%) admitted they would rather layer up to keep cosy and warm than turn up the thermostat, which would result in a hefty gas or electric bill increase.

Other items flying off shelves as customers chill-proof their homes and family include the highest tog duvets (+40%), electric blankets (+165%) and other thick woolly layering items.

Continues Ed Watson: “We have made sure that our stores are fully stocked and equipped to meet the demand from customers for these cold weather and swim items, and moved stock around the country in line with the coldest regions to ensure shoppers can find what they are looking for.

“With the average household bill doubling in just six years, families are investing in smart items to keep them warm and last for longer, and can be used each winter.

Hats (+149%), gloves (+30%) and scarves (+26%) flew of shelves over the weekend, as did sales of hot drinks flasks (+20%), as commuters and parents on the school run look to wrap up and keep warm ahead of this week’s Siberian chill.

Gustavus, AK (PRWEB) January 31, 2012

An impressive new 2000sq foot recreation room awaits those staying at the Glacier Bay Country Inn near Gustavus, Alaska. Built to highlight 18ft high ceilings with exposed beams, the rec room is a showpiece featuring floor to ceiling windows with beautiful views and enough activities within to keep travelers entertained for hours after a sumptuous meal, strenuous hike, or full day of Alaska fishing. The recreation room comes equipped with pool tables, ping pong, gaming tables – including dual-screen Xbox gaming – and a sound-proof theater room. Movies will be shown on a 10 x 6ft 1080p HD projection screen with surround sound. The theater accommodates 20 people comfortably in recliners with terraced seating.

“During the summer, it remains daylight until 11pm so we wanted to provide some extra activities for our guests to enjoy after they arrive back from their day adventure,” said owner Jim, “Plus, the kids and teenagers will love watching movies in the theater room and playing games in the spacious rec room.”

Exterior improvements include a ramada for the outside deck. Conversation won’t be dampened around the fire pit or in the newly installed hot tub when inclement weather makes a visit to the inn. Rain or shine, guests can now enjoy hot tubbing and picnicking or just sitting around the fire on the outside deck with views of wildflower meadows.

A two-bedroom cabin is another added highlight for the coming season (estimated completion date mid-summer). Built to overlook the expansive meadow, it contains two large bedrooms—each with its own bath. There is a common area between them with floor to ceiling windows. For added convenience and comfort, the owners have added a small refrigerator, sink, microwave, television and internet service. Plus, a fireplace has been added. The two-bedroom cabin can accommodate a family, two couples, six guys or just a couple.

All the cabins have state of the art Infrared Heaters, flat screen High Definition TVs, Cable and Wireless Internet. The kitchen is newly remodeled. The lodge has a fresh coat of paint. There’s a newly cemented walkway with landscaping to the front door and newly-built disability accessible ramps. Even the website is new.

Finding quality employment for our nation’s veterans is a challenge. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 14.7% of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are unemployed long term (April 2010). The Bureau also reports that the unemployment rate in the education sector has increased from 3.5% in 2009 to 5.6% in 2011 leaving many teachers out of work. To help address these national unemployment issues, KidzArt is launching its Franchise Giveaway program for ten qualified veterans and ten teachers.

KidzArt, an international children’s art education franchise company, will provide business opportunities to veterans and teachers who are over twenty one years of age and legal US residents through its newly announced Franchise Giveaway program.

“KidzArt is interested in providing former service members and teachers the opportunity to become business owners and leaders in their communities,” says Chris Cruikshank, president and founder of KidzArt. “We hope that the special incentives in this program will encourage people to put their business, military or teaching skills to use and become entrepreneurs.”

Program requirements include an interview, the ability to attend training in Jackson, MI for five days and $ 3,500 available for working capital to launch the business.

In addition to waiving the $ 9,900 franchise fee, KidzArt is offering a protected territory, a Web page, a $ 500 online class registration system, $ 1,000 off all start up marketing services, complete business and art training and on-going franchise support.

KidzArt’s Franchise Giveaway will continue until all winners have been selected, trained and start their businesses.
